Botox Used to Treat Chronic Migraines

Botox is known as a great anti aging practice to slow down the rate that wrinkles appear on your forehead and around the eyes.  Botox has been approved to prevent migraines for adults by the FDA, a debilitating headache pain that many feel.  To maximize the prevention, a course of Botox injections every 12 weeks around the neck and head to dull the effects of future migraines.

A report done in March 2010 that was published in Cephalalgia states that the hours and days of a migraine can be reduced and dulled from use of Botox.  Most drugs that treat migraines are for temporary use and do not allow for the longer term relief that Botox can give.  A study using 1,384 adults in two different studies in the United States in Europe showed the effectiveness and led to the approval by the FDA for use in relieving migraines.
